When it comes to ethical events, I wonder whether I would agree to organise a children’s fashion show where the kids use guns as accessories, like this one in Moscow (pictures below).
I have refused to organise events, before. Usually, because the lead-in time was too short – I always need at least three months to organise an event. Otherwise, I have said ‘no’ because the budget was too small for the client’s expectations. And, there was one event I refused because I didn’t like the client.
But, refusing to organise events is rare. We all need business. So, would I turn business away on ethical grounds?
Yes, I would.
Especially because I am so tired of guns featuring in everyday culture where they are not appropriate. I mean, what have guns got to do with fashion, or kids, or kids fashion?
Perhaps, it isn’t even about ethics. Maybe, it’s just plain common sense and knowing what is wrong and what is right. But, this event was in Moscow, so it must be propaganda and the exploitation of young minds…
